The D1 Mini is a microcontroller in a practical plug-in system with a powerful WiFi processor and a particularly small form factor. Most D1 Mini boards are equipped with an ESP8266 and a USB interface.
Because of the practical form factor, a large number of shields have been created, some of which we offer in our range. Besides the classic D1 Mini with ESP8266 MOD 12-F module, you can also find a D1 Mini with antenna socket and extended memory or a variant with an ESP32-Wroom module for an additional Bluetooth interface.
D1 Mini technical details
The D1 Mini is an evaluation board equipped with an ESP32 or ESP8266 processor. The D1 Mini can be easily programmed with the Arduino IDE. Due to the high popularity in the community, many open source libraries are available, which make the D1 Mini compatible with most of the accessories for Arduino and Raspberry, such as sensors with digital interface.
D1 Mini Programming
Like all microcontrollers with ESP8266 or ESP32, the D1 Mini modules can be programmed in the Arduino IDE. All development environments suitable for the ESP processors, such as PlatformIO, can also be used together with the D1 Mini. Operating systems such as FreeRTOS, NodeMCU or the Espressif AT firmware can also be used without any significant restrictions.
D1 Mini Pinout
Because not all GPIOs of the ESP module can be connected to one pin in the D1 Mini due to its compact design, great importance was attached to the functionality of the module when designing the layout. Thus, in addition to several digital pins and the analogue pin, a 5V and 3.3V power supply are also available.
You can find the pinouts and connection diagrams for all our microcontrollers on the respective product detail pages.
Projects for D1 Mini
With its compact design and a wide range of plug-on accessories, the D1 Mini is suitable for many applications and projects. In addition to an OLED or battery shield, there is also a "dual base" for interconnecting the shields, as well as various prototyping attachments.
